This Season’s Colour Crush

Not quite ready to turn your whole wardrobe black for winter?  Here at The Luxury Closet, we have devised a full proofed ‘going grey’ plan, to have your outfits looking anything but boring.

Break up a grey outfit with a colour pop.

Use colour to your advantage and add a bright handbag or shoe to any grey outfit.  Colour pops are not only a great way to draw attention to a certain piece, it is a great way of achieving the perfect balance of chic and ‘I just threw this on’.  Our favourites are cobalt blue, pastel pink or neon yellow.  Denim is a great way to gel two colours together, be that a jacket or your favourite jeans.

1. Saint Laurent Paris Dark Grey Halter Back Silk Top S – $198
2. Stella McCartney Blue Jeans M – $71
3. Chanel Blue Quilted Leather Maxi Classic Single Flap Bag – $4,800
4. Manolo Blahnik Black Satin Hangisi Embellished Pumps Size 40.5 – $587

When it comes to jewelry, go for gold.

Create a contrast by ditching silver jewelry and try warmer tones of gold or copper instead.  The different hues will compliment each other, keeping your outfit from looking to bland or monotone.  Make your jewelry stand out by layering dainty bracelets or rings, or swap these out for a statement necklace or earrings.

Add some sparkle by swapping grey for silk.

It’s no secret that metallics are taking this season by storm.  Take grey into the night by swapping matte fabrics for silk, making your grey look silver.  Make sure to create diversity by using conflicting materials, at the moment we’re loving pairing tweeds with shimmering silvers for a classic winter feel.
