As real life wedding season is upon us, there’s a good chance you already have a packed schedule of summer nuptials to attend. But fashion doesn’t dwell, and the wedding world has already fast forwarded to next season. The spring/summer 2016 bridal shows have just wrapped, and we take a look at five of the trends taking over the runway, so you can get a head start for next season. Any stylish brides looking for the latest and greatest in bridal buys? Your search stops here.
Sugar Rush
Soft pastels and icy blue Elsa-inspired hues reigned the runways this month. Adding colour to your style no longer just means your wardrobe. Brides are taking this trend one step further and incorporating a splash of something pretty into their special day. Romona Keveza, Houghton, Naeem Khan and Theia are amongst the brands that opted for waterfall floral motifs in the prettiest of hues. This month, gowns are getting the Frozen treatment.
Fanciful Feathers
This season, Bridal Fashion Week told a tale of two textures: and feathers were one of them. 3D skirts conjured images of beautiful Swan Lake ballerinas with either fully covered traditional ball-gown skirting or accented dresses with feather adornments for extra dimensions and with a playful approach.
Borrowed From the Boys
Your wedding attire should compliment your personal style, and for some, a dress simply just isn’t it. Enter the most modern approach to bridal style: the pant suit. The white tuxedo suit can be just as chic, formal and impactful as a ball gown. No, really! This season, we’re taking inspiration from Theia, Pamella Roland and Angel Sanchez. It’s time to suit up, ladies!
Sultry Styles
Oh la la! Alvina Valenta, Pnina Tornai and Dennis Basso cater to the ‘dare to bare’ women of the wedding world with plunging necklines and sky-high splits. Need we say more?
New Heights
Taking cues from one of the internet’s most popular brides last year, Olivia Palermo pioneers the skirt overlay into the new season. Designers such as Ines Di Santo, Marchesa and Temperley London all try their hand at providing new heights of glamour without any fuss with wow-worthy skirts that detach from the dress. This trend can also work with a cape. We like!
