Jean Queen

From patchwork to threadbare and skinny to boyfriend cut, this season, the denim trends du jour also see a surge of jeans, in every style you could imagine. Slouchy silhouettes were seen at J. Crew and Fendi, whilst print play took centre stage at Dior and Tommy Hilfiger. The great thing about this trend, is it truly won’t go out of style! So invest in a good pair that will last forever, and take it from us, they go with everything!

Haute Hippie

As evidenced by the likes of Gucci, DVF and Louis Vuitton, the Seventies redux is in full swing, summoning a summer renaissance of jean skirts, flared fits and high-waists. For this, we take inspiration from the queen of denim, Alexa Chung (in fact, she even designed her own line of denim for her collaboration with AG Denim!). How to wear it? Start with an a-line skirt. Why? Its standout silhouette boasts a stealth slimming effect – wear with a polo neck for serious Seventies vibes and in the summer with a T-shirt tucked in.

Shade Play

And continuing the momentum of its high fashion moment, fashion brands took the most democratic textile in the world and gave it a designer face lift. Think unexpected hues and pops of colour for the coming months. And if coloured denim is good enough for the Duchess of Cambridge, it’s good enough for us!

Double Trouble

Now that we’ve, thankfully, passed the point of being considered a fashion taboo and the ultimate in uncool – think Britney and Justin at the American Music Awards circa 2001 -, summer’s trickiest trend is here to stay. Some of you may be a dab hand at the tricky business of double denim, but for those who are not, when it comes to doubling up, there is a jean, a jacket, and a skirt or shirt for every mood and every day. When it comes to inspiration, we’re taking notes from Kylie Jenner and Kate Hudson who wear the Canadian tuxedo, as it’s sometimes called, with an effortlessly chic appeal. It’s the trend that so wrong, it’s right!
