Actress, Academy award winner, model and soon to make her directorial debut, as Natalie Portman turns 33 today, we celebrate the face of Dior by taking a look back at our favourite red carpet moments.
The 65th Berlinale International Film Festival sees our first Dior red carpet throwback, where Natalie attends the ‘As We Were Dreaming’ premiere, at the Berlinale Palace on February 9, 2015 in Berlin, Germany. We are loving the soft pink hue of the midi dress, with gold sequined detailing at the bodice and POCKETS! Who doesn’t love a dress with pockets? She styled the number with strappy gold sandals, a chic updo, and classic diamond studs.
From studying modern dance at school to her Black Swan persona, it’s no surprise to see Portman attend Benjamin Millepied’s L.A. Dance Project Inaugural Benefit Gala in Los Angeles, California back in June of 2013. She donned silk Dior rise-and-fall dress with a pink lining from the French fashion house’s Resort 2014 line.
Who could forget this look? It’s not easy to attend an A-list event in trousers, and black it look black-tie, but Portman carries it off at the ‘Esprit Dior, Miss Dior’ exhibition opening held at the Grand Palais in Paris, France November 2013. At first glance, you may be tricked into thinking it’s a jumpsuit, but the look, from the AW12 collection, featured black fitted trousers with a fold-over strapless black-and-white corset-like top with embellished detailing. Being the good brand ambassador that she is, the Star Wars actress accessories with Dior pumps and clutch.
In June of last year, Portman attended the Miss Dior exhibition held at the Shanghai Urban Sculpture Center in Shanghai, China. Whether she purposefully chose a monochrome outfit to match the houndstooth floor, we’ll never know, but it worked wonders anyway! Inspired by Dior’s AW13 collection, the American beauty paired her look with Dior fine jewellery and accessories.
Back in 2012, joined on the red carpet by her then boyfriend, now husband, Benjamin Millepied, the actress looked beautiful wearing a Christian Dior, midnight blue silk chiffon gown with a tiered skirt and a black ribbon detailing. Portman stepped out to one of her veteran events, the New York City Ballet’s Spring Gala at David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center.
Portman’s signature red carpet style often takes somewhat of a minimalist approach. The mother of one attended the 2012 Oscars in a jaw-dropping 1954 Christian Dior Haute Couture vintage gown – and you wouldn’t even notice she had her child just a few months prior! She accessorises with her trusty Dior fine jewellery collection.
We are totally loving the contrast of this silver metallic jacquard ball skirt and parred down black cashmere top, from Dior’s SS14 collection. With no additional trinkets needed, Portman keeps hair slicked back into an unfussy bun, and rounds off her ensemble with black satin Charlotte Olympia ‘Monroe’ sling-back pumps
