Such as the Royal Ascot last week, strict sartorial rules have been implemented for Wimbledon. The tennis tournament’s “all-white” rule now explicitly covers caps, headbands, bandannas, wristbands, shoes and even “any undergarments that either are or can be visible during play.” But, as all followers of fashion know, rules are made to be broken. That time Roger Federer Roger strode onto centre court wearing a white army style jacket over a gold lame accented waistcoat.
That time Bethanie Mattek-Sands channeled Lady Gaga and donned a coat of tennis balls.
That time Venus Williams beat Akgul Amanmuradova in a onesie.
That time Serena Williams started warming up in a trench-coat.
